MOV Backseat Relay
This device is used to remotely backseat motor operated valves (MOV) to stop packing leaks in locations where the valve cannot be easily accessed. It is connected at the motor control center to bypass the open limit switch. Clamp-on current sensors are used to measure current to the valve motor. After the initial current surge at motor start, the current is compared to a proportional setpoint. When the valve compresses the backseat packing, motor current increases. The relay senses the increase and opens the relay contact to remove power from the valve motor.
Three models are available for use with AC and DC valve motors.
201602-AC (original 201602)
This model contains a one ohm shunt resistor across each input. This requires use of AC transformer type current probes. For firmware versions 2.4 and prior, three probes are required, one for each phase. With firmware version 3.0 and later, operation can be performed using one, two, or three probes.
Price: $3095.00 (AEMC probes extra)

201602-DC
The DC model does not contain the one ohm shunt resistor across each input. This allows use of AC/DC current probes that require a high impedance load. It may also be used with AC motors using AC/DC probes on one, two, or three phases.
Price: $3095.00 (AEMC probes extra)

201602-ACDC (NEW)
By including switched one ohm input shunts, this model can be used with either AC or AC/DC current probes for both AC and DC MOVs. Operation can be performed using one, two, or three probes and includes automatic phase detection. Additionally, 12 bits of A/D conversion are used compared to 10 bits in the other models. This gives better resolution of small current changes.
Price: $2895.00 (AEMC probes extra)
